State of Ireland is a personal project presenting objective data on Ireland’s public services, economy, and society — sourced from official Irish government statistics.
Approach
Every figure on this site is sourced directly from official statistical bodies — mostly the Central Statistics Office (CSO) via its public PxStat API — rather than news reports or commentary. Where a data series is incomplete or only partially available, that is stated explicitly rather than glossed over.
Data sources
CSO (Central Statistics Office) — Residential Property Price Index, new dwelling completions, Consumer Price Index, recorded crime statistics, Sustainable Energy Indicators (energy balance, imports, electricity fuel mix — originally compiled with SEAI), environmental accounts (greenhouse gas emissions), psychiatric hospital admissions.
SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland)— Energy statistics are sourced via CSO’s own hosting of SEAI-derived series where possible, since SEAI’s own site blocks automated access.
HSE / NTPF— General healthcare metrics (waiting lists, hospital activity) are not yet integrated; only CSO’s psychiatric admissions series is currently shown for Healthcare.
EPA / Uisce Éireann — Water sector statistics, where available.
Licence
Underlying data is published by the CSO and other Irish public bodies, generally under a PSI licence equivalent to Ireland’s Open Data policy. Check individual source pages for exact licensing terms.
